Vegetation
May is the transition month between autumn and spring, allowing you to see the diverse vegetation along the trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. Along with many other natural blooms, rhododendron-covered trees illuminate the trekkers’ path. This tranquil vision of nature alleviates half of the trekkers’ exhaustion.
Tree Rhododendrons can be seen at elevations ranging from 1500m to 3500m. This plant has medicinal benefits as well, and you can get the best view of it below Tengboche Monastery, Gokyo Valley below Dole, and Phortse. You can also get a view of other species of Rhododendrons like Bell Rhododendrons, Barbed Stalk Rhododendrons, and many more.

EBC Trek In May Difficulties
Since May is the popular trekking season, the hotels might be occupied so it is recommended to make pre-bookings according to the plan. The first half of the trek to Sagarmatha National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site) is easy and moderate, but the last half to Namche Bazaar is difficult.
The trails are exceedingly steep and rough, and it takes 6 hours of hiking to reach Namche Bazaar, the capital of the Khumbu region. The trail from Namche to Tengboche is moderate to challenging, with medium slope paths to steep paths. You can also hire a trekking guide or potter to guide you through this trek.
