Overview

The Langtang Circuit Trek is indeed a popular trekking route that circles around the Langtang mountain range in Nepal. The Langtang Lirung is the highest peak in this range, standing at 7,227 meters (23,711 feet) above sea level.

Details Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

At Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport you will be well received by AGH guide and staff for transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed our guide / leader brief of the trip to Langtang Valley & Gosainkund, hotels, lodge, includes responsible trekking with welcome dinner in a nice Nepali restaurant with entertainment and culture programs.

Day 2

Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460m- 07 hours.

Starting Langtang Valley & Gosainkund trekking with drive on Nepal’s mountain highway to reach Langtang area at Syabrubesi village, journey leads past many farm villages and towns with views of mountains. On reaching Dhunche at 1,965m, a major town of Langtang area and Rasuwa district and an entrance of Langtang National Park. From here drive continues downhill for few hours to Syabrubesi village for overnight stop.

Day 3

Trek to Lama Hotel 2,240m -06 hours.

First day walk leads uphill for a while with rest of the walk on gradual and winding trail through terraced farms and villages, walk descend to join a path of upper Syabru near Riverside. From here another hour walk to reach a small forest clearing at Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

Day 4

Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 05 hours

Morning walk follows Trisuli or Langtang River upstream, leading to a climb into rhododendron and oaks forest after few hours walk reaching at Ghoretabla in the middle of the forest.
After a nice stop continue walk for few hours to Langtang village through forest and crossing streams and leaving the tree line behind at Langtang village for overnight.

Day 5

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,850m – 04 hours.

Langtang village mostly inhabited by Tamang and Bhotias tribe, morning walk leads on gradual path for a short while, then winds up for few hours coming across “mani-prayer wall”, walk leads further east where the gorge opens up into a wide scenic valley with views of peaks at close distance.

After a good walk of 3 hours reaching at Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful place with panorama of mountains and close views of Langtang Lirung at above 7,000m with icefall, here in a nice lodge with afternoon free for short walk visit the cheese factory established some 25 years ago by Swiss Technical Assistance and local support.

Day 6

Rest-Day for leisure for hike around.

A rest day to enjoy and marvel the super views, an ideal spot for leisure hike to nearby hill Kyanjin Ri at 4,700m high.

Around Langtang valley enjoy views of GhenguLiru (Langtang II 6571m / 21,560ft), Langtang Lirung (7,425m / 23,765ft) Kimshun (6,745m / 22,137ft) and Shalbachum (6,918m / 22,699ft) to the south, the ChimsedangLekh forms a ridge of peaks which includes Naya-Kanga 5,846m and Gangchempo, Tilman’s beautiful Fluted Peak.

Beyond it continues to the Jugal Himal, ending with Dorje Lakpa (6,980m / 22,929ft), extending further east on the upper meadows of the Langtang range ends in a huge and massive mountain wall, forming the border with Tibet.

Day 7

Trek back to Lama Hotel 2, 470m -06 hours.

After a great time at Kyanjin Gompa, return back on the same trail to Lama-Hotel a small settlement in the midst of the forest at the bank of upper Trisuli River.

Day 8

Trek to Upper (Thulo) Syabru village 2,118m – 06 hrs.

From Lama Hotel morning walk leads to Upper Syabru also called Thulo Syabru, downhill walk to Bamboo a place with few small lodges, after short rest here walk continues uphill to a ridge at Upper Syabru.

Day 9

Trek to Singh Gomba / Chandanbari 3,254 m – 05 hrs.

Morning leads to a climb into lovely forest of rhododendron, oaks and pine trees with views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal and as far towards Manaslu and Annapurna Himalaya, a steep climb but scenic walk into beautiful forest where more than 10 different species of rhododendron found around, passing summer pasture and then on the pleasant winding trail to Singh Gomba / Chandanbari village with a cheese factory and an old monastery on top of the village.

Day 10

Trek to Gosainkund 4,460 m – 05 hrs.

From Shing Gompa, walk leads to holy Gosainkund, starting with climb through pine and rhododendron forest then higher over Lauri Binayak pass of above 3,932 m, walk leads past Laurebina and Cholang Pati.
After Lauri Binayak with fantastic views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung reaching at holy Gosaikund Lake area for overnight stop.

The legendry and myth story of this holy place as per ancient Hindu epic, Gosaikund a pond believes as the vicarage of Lord Shiva (one of three main Hindu deities) and Goddess Gauri. Hindu believes that this pristine pond was formed due to digging of the land by Trishul (a holy Trident) weapon of Lord Shiva, thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims from India and Nepal visits Gosainkund every year especially on full moon day which lies in the month of August, the special auspicious occasion of ‘Janai Purnima’ festival.

Day 11

Trek to Gopte 3,440 m via Laurabina pass at 4,609 m – 07 hrs.

After a nice stop at Gosainkund, a tough morning walk to climb over Laurabina eastern or Gosainkund pass at 4,609 m / 15,121 ft, highest point of this adventure. From the pass downhill all the way with few short ups and down to overnight stop at Gopte Odar, a small settlement located in the middle of forest on route Kathmandu and Helambu area.

Day 12

Trek to Kutumsang 2,445m via Mange-Ghot 3,285 m – 06 hrs.

From Gopte, morning walk on winding trail most of the way with short steep climb to Thadepati, where Helambu and Kathmandu trekking trail joins.

Thadepati offers views of peaks and scenery of rolling hills and valley, this place with 5-6 lodges and teahouses.
After a nice break walk leads downhill to Kutumsang village for overnight stop.

Day 13

Trek to Gulbhanjyang 2,125 m – 05 hours.

After Kutumsang village, morning walk with uphill through farm fields, then into forest with views of surrounding landscapes and snowcapped mountains of Ganesh-Langtang to Jugal Himal, this pleasant walk ends for the day at Gul-Bhanjyang village.

Day 14

Trek to Chisapani Danda 2,195 m – 05 hours.

Walk continues reaching closer to Kathmandu valley with overnight stop in Chisapani, morning with short uphill through farmlands and villages with wonderful views on the walk, leading downhill to Patibanjayang village, a nice small village from here uphill for an hour to Chisopani danda for last overnight stop.

This place offers stunning sunrise/ sunset views over array of mountains.

Day 15

Trek to Sundarijal 1,380m an hour drive back to Kathmandu.

After catching morning sunrise over mountains, last day walk of this adventure leads to nice pleasant forest and farmlands on downhill walk, passing Tamang villages of Burlang and Chepu Bhanjyang with views of Kathmandu Valley. Walk continues downhill to Sundarijal (meaning beautiful water) a nice and pleasant place with forest and fresh water streams.

From here an hour downhill to reach northern rim of Kathmandu valley at Sundarijal, taking a short drive to Kathmandu where this wonderful adventure concludes, afternoon free for individual activities and shopping.

Day 16

International departure homeward bound.

Today, last day in unique Nepal of Himalayan wonders, after great adventure and experience around Langtang Valley & Gosainkund trekking and as your flight time AGH staff transfer you to Kathmandu airport for your international departure homeward bound or to your next port of call.

Altitude Sickness

During Langtang Circuit Trek, you will be in different high-altitude areas. While you are trekking in the high-altitude zones, the risk of altitude sickness is always there. The most common symptoms of altitude sickness are:

Trekking Permit & Regulation

While trekking in Langtang Region, it is highly recommended to follow the rules and regulations. Make sure to follow the advice of guides, follow the No Trace principles and walk through the designated routes only to ensure a safe, secure, and enjoyable journey.

Similarly, Permits are essential for Langtang Circuit Trek. During the trek, you will be trekking through the varied terrains for several days and also the area of the protected Langtang National Park. Permits help to keep the record of the trekkers for ensuring their satey. Best month for Langtang Circuit Trek

The best months to embark on the Langtang Circuit Trek are March, April, and May (Spring Season) and September, October, and November (Autumn Season).

In the spring months, the temperature is mild, and landscapes are decorated with blooming rhododendrons. The delightful environment of spring, favorable trekking environment, and excellent sceneries have made this season stand out as one of the ideal times for trekking and exploration.

During the autumn season, the weather is moderate and the skies are clear which rewards you with the unobstructed views of the snow-capped mountains. Langtang Circuit Trek Cost

Langtang Trek cost starts from USD 975 Per person

The package covers the cost of full board meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during the trek and the cost of accommodation (Kathmandu and throughout the trek). Similarly, we make the arrangements for all the ground transportation and permits which cost is covered by the package. A professional guide and porter will accompany you during the journey, and their hiring cost is included in the package. We also provide a First Aid Kit, a company T-shirt, and an Adventure Certificate. The cost of all the government and service charges is covered by the package.

The package doesn’t include the cost of your international airfare, visa fee, lunch, and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu. Similarly, your personal expenses and tips for guides and porters are also not included in the package.

Important Tips

Hot shower

As you will travel for several days through the rugged terrains during Langtang Circuit Trek, you may want to take a shower. Many teahouses along the way provide hot shower facilities at extra cost. The teahouses can charge US$2 to US$3, and they usually provide a bucket of hot water. You can ask for hot water in the teahouse, and the hosts will make arrangements accordingly.

Money
It is important to carry cash during the journey. Many teahouses and local shops along the trail accept cash only as the mode of payment. There are no Banks or ATMs in the remote areas of Langtang Region. So, it is highly recommended that you bring cash with you by withdrawing the money from the city area.

Internet
There are internet facilities available in most of the tea houses along the trail for which you have to pay extra. The availability of the Internet has made it a lot easier for visitors to communicate with family and friends. Many teahouses along the trail have Wi-Fi. The teahouses can charge US$2 to $3 for Wi-Fi The quality of the internet may vary in the higher zones.

Electricity Facility
Electricity facility is available during Langtang Circuit Trek. You will find electricity facilities in most of the teahouses along the trail. In higher zones, the electricity is generated through the solar energy. So, on gloomy days, it may not be available. You can also bring a portable solar charger for charging your mobiles and cameras.

Tipping
Tipping to the guides and porters is a way of appreciating them for the valuable assistance and guidance that they have shown. While it is not mandatory, it can bring them happiness and be an extra income for them. Many trekkers tip about 10% to 15% of the trek cost. Usually, trekkers tip the guide and porters on the final day of the journey while bidding farewell to show gratitude for the exceptional service they received during the journey.
