Overview

Manaslu and Annapurna trekking are segregated by a huge pass in between called the Larkya La Pass. You will find the trek to Annapurna circuit and Manaslu Circuit Trek taking the same route neighboring each other.

 

A foot trail navigates through the base of these two moutains making a circuit trip. The trail traverses via two of the highest passes: Larkya La Pass(5163m) and Thorang La Pass(5416m). This trip which circumnavigates along these two gigantic mountains is Manaslu with Tsum Valley and Annapurna Trek.

 

Most treks in Nepal traverses to the base of the mountains and returns. This trek, however, makes a circuit trip combining two of the most popular treks in Nepal: Manaslu Circuit Trek with Tsum Valley, and Annapurna Circuit Trek.

 

Northern uplands of Nepal consists towering Himalayan mountains with 8 of them measuring above 8000 meters. The western Himalayan belt of Nepal boasts 2 mountains that scales beyond 8000 meters mark. Mt.Annapurna I(8091m) and Mt.Manaslu(8163m) stand as the tenth and eighth highest peak of the world.

 

The lower areas of the base of these peaks has long been Arcadia for natural enthusiasts. Encapsulated within Annapurna Conservation Area Project and Manaslu Conservation Area, the lower sections of these towering peaks are filled with abundant flora and fauna.

 

Both of these trek are most sought after adventure in the Nepalese Himalayas. Annapurna Circuit Trek boasts the unique offerings of Manang and Mustang region. Notably, Manaslu Circuit Trek with Tsum valley provides a deeper insight into the Bon Buddhism and typical practices of Tsumba people living in the Manaslu area. Combination of both these treks culminates: astounding geography, distinct culture, high passes, mountains vistas, raging rivers, glacial lakes, and more.

 

Annapurna and Manaslu range mountains are neighbours separated by a high pass in between, Larkya La Pass. We first traverse via narrow gorges of Budhi Gandaki river to reach flat plains of Tsum Valley. Then our challenge takes on the famous Larkya La Pass.

 

Upon our descent on the other side of the pass, we reach the initial point of Annapurna Circuit Trek. Our trek then pierces through Manang region making its way through the famous Manang village and then ascending towards Thorang La Pass. From Thorang La Pass, we descent towards the semi-arid region of Mustang ending our trip.

 

Additionally, both these areas are religiously and culturally affluent. Manang and Mustang region of the Annapurna area are home to prominent buddhist pilgrims and monuments. Milarepa Cave, Muktinath temple, Braga Monastery, Chamje Chhortens are notable buddhist heritages of Annapurna region.

 

Mu Gompa, Rachen Gompa, Gumba Lungdang, Pungyen Monastery are amongst prominent Buddhist heritages of Manaslu area. Your trekking trail during this traverse is dotted with several artifacts pertaining to Buddhism. As both of these areas are located in the Tibetan border, the cultural practices has been highly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.

 

How Difficult Manaslu and Annapurna Circuit Trek?


Manaslu Annapurna Circuit Trek entails 2 of the highest passes in Nepal: Larkya La Pass and Thorang La Pass. Additionally, you will have to spend many days in the terrain that encircles the foothills of gigantic Himalayan mountains( Annapurna and Manaslu range).

 

This makes this trekking challenging. This trek is recommended for trekkers with prior Himalayan trekking experience. Altitude, remoteness, length of the trek, rugged and rural terrain makes this trek demanding as well as challenging.

 

Best time for Manaslu Annapurna Circuit Trek


Manaslu Annapurna Circuit  best time can be determined with the weather pattern that prevails during the time of your travel. Nepal boasts 4 different weather systems which are : Spring, Winter, Summer and Autumn. Primarily Spring that lasts from March to May and Autumn which begins from September and lasts till November is the best time for this trek.

 

The Trek  advised that you plan your trekking time period anywhere within the selected months. Other than these two weather periods, Summer and Winter are the harshest in Nepal with extreme temperature and weather clarity. However, this trek can be done in Summer months as major portion of the trekking trail lies in the rain shadow area.
