Even before you set your foot on the trail you will witness Himalayas which look so close as to almost touch it with your hands. As your trek progresses, the Himalayas get even closer. One of the most iconic mountains of Nepal known by the name Machapuchre (6993 m) is there to welcome you from the very first day.

This  5 Days Annapurna Base camp Trek  Itinerary  begins from  Jhinu  Village which drive 2 hour from Pokhara  City and continue trek to Base camp. The trekking passes through villages and settlements, which itself are like a living museum, still retaining their centuries old tradition and social structures.

By the second day of the trek you will increasingly be leaving behind sub tropical vegetation and entering temperate weather but the sight of the majestic Himalayas will make it worth it. On the third day you will finally reach your goal—Annapurna Base Camp. You will be surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the world once your reach this place like Annapurna I (8091 m) Annapurna III (7555 m) Annapurna South (7219 m) as well as Annapurna fang also called Barha Shikhara and Machapuchre (6993 m).

Within the span of just three days you will be crossing three climate zones chiefly subtropical, temperate and cold zones and this itself is rare in the world occurring in such short distance. 5 Days  ABC Trek Difficulty

The 5-day Annapurna Base Camp trek is a shorter and faster version that comes with its own set of challenges. You’ll need to walk for 7 to 8 hours on some days, climbing up several thousand meters in altitude. The quick gain in altitude, about a thousand meters each day, can be tricky due to potential altitude-related challenges. It’s important to plan and prepare carefully for this aspect of the trek.

The steep trails can make your trek a bit challenging. Throughout the 5-day ABC trek, you’ll encounter narrow paths and steps where you need to walk carefully. If others are crossing, it’s courteous to step aside and let them go first.

Accommodation

During your 5-day Annapurna Base Camp trek, your accommodation will vary. On the first night in Sinuwa village, you’ll have a private and comfortable room. However, for the next three nights, you’ll be sharing with other trekkers. The lodges typically have rooms with 4 or 5 beds. If you’re traveling with friends or family, it works well as you can have a room for 3 to 4 people.

 Hot Shower and Bathroom

For bathroom and hot shower information during your 5-day Annapurna journey: On the first day in Sinuwa, you’ll enjoy a well-equipped Western bathroom, and there’s an option for a hot shower at a cost of around 250-300 rupees. However, for the next three nights, you’ll be sharing a bathroom with other trekkers. Each lodge typically has 1 or 2 bathrooms serving around 20 to 25 people. In the mornings, there might be a 20-minute wait for bathroom access, and regrettably, hot showers won’t be available during these three nights.

 Internet -Wi-FI

There is no Wi-Fi or internet facility available during your 5-day Annapurna Base Camp trek. To stay connected, it’s recommended to purchase a local SIM card with data roaming. The Namse Simcard is a suitable option for this purpose.

5 Days Annapurna Base Camp Trek Itinerary

Day 1

Drive From Pokhara to Jhinu / Trek to Sinuwa (2340 m) – 3 hrs.

Pokhara Elevation: 822 m

Jhinu Danda Elevation: 1,780 m

Sinuwa Elevation: 2,340 m

Drive Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours

Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours

 

On first day of trek 5 day Annapurna Base Camp Trek, you will drive to Jhinu from Pokhara. You will travel along hillsides and get rewarded with mesmerizing views of rivers, waterfalls and terraced farms. The enchanting views of surroundings will keep you captivated and mesmerized. In around 2 to 2.5 hours you will arrive in Jhinu. This place is popular for its natural hot springs.

Pokhara Elevation: 822 m

Jhinu Danda Elevation: 1,780 m

Sinuwa Elevation: 2,340 m

Drive Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours

Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours

After arriving in Jhinu Danda you can rest for a while and head towards Sinuwa, a picturesque settlement in Annapurna Region. You will pass through the tranquil rhododendron forests and get glimpses of the Machhapuchhree and Annapurna South along the trail. Then, you will climb gradually through the steep stairs to arrive at Chomrong Village.

Afterward, you will hike down to a serene flowing river. You will then pass through the uphill trail and arrive at Sinuwa. The village is popular for offering panoramic views of  Machhapuchhree and Hiunchuli. You can witness unique traditional houses and terrace farms in the village. The Gurung and Magar community reside in this village and you will get a chance to explore their culture and experience warm hospitality which will enrich your overall experience. On the first day of your trek you will stay at a traditional teahouse in Sinuwa.

Day 2

Trek from Sinuwa to Deurali (2,420 m., 6, 7 hours).

Sinuwa Elevation: 2,340 m 

Deurali Elevation: 3,200 m

Trek Duration: 6 hours 

 

Your destination for 2nd day of the trek is Deurali. You will begin your trek at 8 AM after having a wholesome breakfast at your teahouse. Then, you will pass through thick and serene forests and descend through the stoned paved stairs and reach Bamboo. You can take a break here, feel nature’s tranquility and observe the pristine beauty of the surroundings.

 

On this day you can trek while witnessing beautiful waterfalls falling freely which is rejuvenating.  You will make your way through the bamboo and rhododendron forests and make it to Dovan. Afterward, you will continue the trek through the forested trail to arrive at the Himalaya, which is surrounded by lush hills and thick forests. This stop point is popular among trekkers as they get to meet the local people and soak in the peaceful ambiance of the village.

You will continue the trek following the steep trail leading to Hinko Cave. Then, you will finally arrive in Deurali after passing through the rocky moraine and landslide prone area. This small tranquil village offers the breathtaking sights of Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhree and Annapurna Ranges. Your accommodation on this day will be at Deurali

Day 3

Trek from Deuraali to Annapurna Base Camp – ABC (4,130 m., 6 hours).

Deurali Elevation: 3,200 m 

Annapurna Base Camp Elevation: 4,130 m

Trek Duration: 6 hours

 

You will start your journey to the base camp early in the morning. The trek requires you to follow the uphill trail. You will trek through the banks of Modi river and arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp in about two hours. You can observe the beauty of Machhapuchhre and Gangapurna and Annapurna from Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Then, you can head towards Annapurna Base Camp walking through the dry moraine.

 

After 2 hours of trekking from Machhapuchhre Base Camp you will arrive at the pristine Annapurna Base Camp. Situated at 4130 meters, the base camp is surrounded by beautiful mountain panoramas. In addition, the beautiful teahouses at the base camp perfectly complement the aesthetics of the mountain at the backdrop. The views of Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South  Gangapurna and Pisang are phenomenal from the base camp.

 

The joyful feeling of being in the base camp of Annapurna is inexplicable in words. You can celebrate this incredible moment of being in Annapurna Base Camp and take many photographs. You will reside at a teahouse in the base camp for the night.

Day 4

Trek from Annapurna Base Camp Bamboo (2,340 m., 6 hours).

Annapurna Base Camp Elevation: 4,130 m

Bamboo Elevation: 2,345 m

 

On this day you will trek back to Bamboo. You can wake up around 5 am for stunning sunrise views. You will be enchanted to watch the sight of sunrays hitting the snowy peaks and making them turn golden. Then, you will have breakfast at the base camp and make your way towards Bamboo. You can behold the beautiful scenery and trek gradually enjoying every moment on your way. The surreal surroundings along the way will enhance your sightseeing journey.

 

Passing through beautiful places like Machhapuchre Base Camp, Himalaya and the enchanting Hinku Cave and finally you will reach Bamboo. This beautiful village is surrunded by the lush forests and offers mesmerizing glimpses of the Annapurna Ranges. You can then proceed toward your designated teahouse for much needed rest.

Day 5

Trek to Jhinu Danda and Drive Back Pokhara ( 4 hour trek) 2 hour drive

Bamboo Elevation: 2,345 m

Jhinu Elevation: 1,780 m

Drive Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours 

 

On this day you will trek back to Jhinu. Your journey will begin at 8 AM after having a fulfilling breakfast at your teahouse.  You will make your way from Bamboo by passing through the scenic Sinuwa and Chomrong villages. You will ascend to the Upper Sinuwa from Bamboo Village. Soon afterwards, you will descend towards river cross the exciting bridge and walk for almost an hour to arrive in Chomrong. You can see many picturesque teahouses in Chomrong.  You may take a short break here and then continue hiking down toward Jhinu. In addition, you will see a natural hot spring in Jhinu Danda which is truly fascinating.

 

Then, you will follow a way to a new bridge and trek while being rewarded with mesmerizing sights of rivers, traditional villages and their farms. Soon afterward, you will arrive in Nayapul and enjoy scenic drive back to Pokhara. Your overnight stay on this day will be at the finest hotel in Pokhara.
